Daniel, whose name in Hebrew means ‘God is my judge’. In this book of the Bible there were a lot of things that transpired.  We see many a times, Daniel was placed before the king in a judgement scene. He however, stood boldly for God and  God deliver him.  It is pretty clear that God indeed is his judge.  We see in chapters two (2), seven (7) & eight (8) wherein the kingdoms during those times were presented. Nebuchadnezzar had his dream and was troubled. However, though the wise men in his realm could not interpret the dream, Daniel was able to with God’s help.

These kingdoms have a vast amount of historical records documented which floods many history books.  These I am pretty sure you will find if you search out. I will not be detailing with those histories but, will just be focusing on Daniel 11:1 which speaks to the Median Empire under Darius.

Daniel 11:1 KJVS
“Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.” ‘Also’, that word also shows a connecting link with the previous chapter and so here it continues. This verse clearly points out that it is dealing with Darius’s first year.  Let us back track a little to see where else in the scripture we can find Darius reign. Daniel 5:31 KJVS states, “And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.” This kingdom that Darius overtook was Babylon. Now Darius was a Median and he had an uncle called Cyrus who was a Persian. They both are involved in the fulfilment of this prophecy.

Cyrus was identified long before he was born to fulfil this prophecy. “Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two – leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut” (Isaiah 45:1).
Cyrus took the throne and gave Darius a position to rule. They both coreigned at the same time. Darius ruling in the Median Empire and Cyrus, the Persian Empire. The overtaking of Babylon was in 539BC. This was his first year. This is the beginning of the overruling of the first kingdom Babylon. Further, in the other verses, it highlights the overtaking of the other nations.

This prophecy is not just written for their time but, God declares its more for ours. He declares in Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 KJVS, [9] “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. [10] Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.”

We come to understand that 539/8 parallels our time of the end which is 1989. The reason for this is because this is a fulfilment of prophecy, not only a fulfilment but, the power that is present at 1989 is a two (2) horned power which is the United States of America. Media and Persia is also two (2) horned, which I have already highlighted Media and Persia. At 1989 this time the king of the North which is the United States and Rome at that time joined hands to take down communism, (USSR) the king of the South.

America is a two (2) horned power because it comprised both of Republicanism and Protestantism. Revelation thirteen (13) describes this perfectly. Revelation 13:11 KJVS, “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.”

“And he had two horns like a lamb.” The lamblike horns indicate youth, innocence, and gentleness, fitly representing the character of the United States when presented to the prophet as “coming up” in 1798. Among the Christian exiles who first fled to America and sought an asylum from royal oppression and priestly intolerance were many who determined to establish a government upon the broad foundation of civil and religious liberty. Their views found place in the Declaration of Independence, which sets forth the great truth that “all men are created equal” and endowed with the inalienable right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” And the Constitution guarantees to the people the right of self-government, providing that representatives elected by the popular vote shall enact and administer the laws. Freedom of religious faith was also granted, every man being permitted to worship God according to the dictates of his conscience. Republicanism and Protestantism became the fundamental principles of the nation. These principles are the secret of its power and prosperity. The oppressed and downtrodden throughout Christendom have turned to this land with interest and hope. Millions have sought its shores, and the United States has risen to a place among the most powerful nations of the earth. GC 441.1
